ارضیاتی شواہد
موجودہ زمانے میں ارضیات (Geology) کے بارے میں بہت زیادہ تحقیقات کی گئی ہیں۔ اِن تحقیقات کے نتیجے میں ایک حقیقت یہ سامنے آئی ہے کہ عراق اور ترکی کے درمیان کا جو علاقہ ہے، اُس میں كئي ہزار سال پہلے بہت بڑا سیلاب آیا تھا۔ یہ سیلاب اتنا بڑا تھا کہ اس نے اُس وقت کی آباد دنیا کو پوری طرح تباہ کردیا ۔ اس موضوع پر بہت سی تحقیقات چھپ چکی ہیں۔ ان میں سے ایک اہم تحقیق درج ذیل کتاب کی صورت میں شائع ہوئی ہے جس کو دو مصنفین نے تیار کیاہے:

اِن تحقیقات سے یہ بات علمی طورپر ثابت ہوچکی ہے کہ ہزاروں سال پہلے ایک عظیم سیلاب آیا، لیکن محققین اپنے سیکولر (secular) ذہن کی وجہ سے یہ کہتے ہیں کہ مختلف قوموں میں اور اِسی طرح بائبل میں نوح کا جو قصہ بیان ہوا ہے، وہ بعد کو اِسی تاریخی واقعے کو لے کر وضع کیا گیا ہے۔ اُن کے نزدیک یہ تاریخی واقعہ کو کہانی کاروپ دینا (mythicization) ہے، حالاں کہ زیادہ صحیح بات یہ ہے کہ یہ مانا جائے کہ ارضیاتی تحقیق سے جو بات ثابت ہوئی ہے، وہ عظیم سیلاب کے بارے میں اُس واقعے کی تاریخی تصدیق کرتی ہے جو پہلے سے بائبل اور قرآن میں موجود تھا۔
حقیقت یہ ہے کہ بائبل اور قرآن کے نزول کے زمانے میں حضرت نوح اور ان کے عہد میں آنے والے طوفان کے بارے میں تاریخی طورپر کچھ بھی معلوم نہ تھا۔ البتہ قرآن کے بیان میں مزيد یہ بھي بتا دیا گیا تھا کہ مستقبل میں حضرت نوح کی کشتی ظاہر ہوگی اور وہ حضرت نوح کے معاملے کی تاریخی تصدیق کرے گی ( 54:15) ۔
ایسی حالت میں یہ ہونا چاہيے کہ ارضیاتی تحقیق سے جو بات ثابت ہوئی ہے، اس کو بائبل اور قرآن کی تاریخی تصدیق (historical verification)سمجھا جائے، نہ کہ برعکس طورپر یہ کہا جائے کہ قدیم زمانے میں جو عظیم سیلاب آیا تھا، اُس كي بنياد پر لوگوں نے فرضی کہانی بنا لی۔
Discovery of Human Artifacts Below Surface of Black Sea Backs Theory by Columbia University Faculty of Ancient Flood, By Suzanne Trimel Columbia University, NYC. Columbia University marine geologists William B.F. Ryan and Walter C. Pitman 3rd inspired a wave of archaeological and other scientific interest in the Black Sea region with geologic and climate evidence that a catastrophic flood 7,600 years ago destroyed an ancient civilization that played a pivotal role in the spread of early farming into Europe and much of Asia. The National Geographic Society offered astonishing evidence on Wednesday (9-13-00) to support Ryan's and Pitman’s theory: the discovery of well-preserved artifacts of human habitation more than 300 feet below the Black Sea surface, 12 miles off the Turkish coast. “This is stunning confirmation of our thesis,” Dr. Ryan said from his office at Columbia's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory on Tuesday. “This is amazing. It's going to rewrite the history of ancient civilizations because it shows unequivocally that the Black Sea flood took place and that the ancient shores of the Black Sea were occupied by humans.” Inspiring a re-examination of the role of climate in human history, Drs. Ryan and Pitman's findings in 1996 suggested that the terrifying and swift flood may have cast such a long shadow on succeeding cultures that it inspired the biblical story of Noah's ark. Drs. Ryan and Pitman argued their provocative theory in a 1999 book, “Noah's Flood: The New Scientific Discoveries About the Event That Changed History” (Simon & Schuster). Ryan and Pitman theorized that the sealed Bosporus strait, which acted as a dam between the Mediterranean and Black seas, broke open when climatic warming at the close of the last glacial period caused icecaps to melt, raising the global sea level. With more than 200 times the force of Niagara Falls, the thundering water flooded the Black Sea, then no more than a large lake, raising its surface up to six inches per day and swallowing 60,0000 square miles in less than a year.
