Looking Towards the Future
While discussing some marital issues, the Quran offers guidance in this verse: “God does not burden any person with more than He has given him. God will soon bring about ease after hardship.” (65:7)
This verse offers important wisdom for married life. During moments of disagreement, one should not judge or react solely based on the present but consider the matter in terms of the future. Experience shows that when issues arise in marriage, people often focus only on what is happening now, failing to recognize that circumstances may change tomorrow.
Focusing exclusively on the present limits one’s perspective. It leads to despair and frustration, suppressing higher thinking. Such individuals lack patience, perceiving enduring hardship as merely accepting deprivation.
In contrast, thinking with the future in mind cultivates noble qualities in both men and women. These individuals never lose hope because they believe that what they are deprived of today may be granted tomorrow through Allah’s wisdom and mercy. Future-oriented people develop high-mindedness, keeping their attention on greater goals. As a result, small setbacks or losses do not disturb their peace or weaken their resolve.
