35. Ease After Hardship
Concerning the relationship between husband and wife, the Quran teaches: “Let the man of means spend in accordance with his means; and let him whose resources are restricted, spend in accordance with what God has given him. God does not burden any person with more than He has given him. God will soon bring about ease after hardship.” (65:7)
In family life, financial strain often becomes a cause of discord. Tensions arise, peace within the home is disturbed, and mutual understanding begins to fade.
The root of such conflict is that people tend to view their circumstances only in terms of the present, without considering future possibilities. This short-sighted outlook gives rise to despair and resentment.
The Quran encourages both men and women to adopt a broad and hopeful perspective—to rise above temporary hardships and place their trust in God’s promise of relief and abundance. Such an outlook fosters patience, restores hope, and turns a crisis into an opportunity for deeper faith and shared strength.
