17. Kind Treatment of Daughters

The Prophet of Islam (SAW) said: “Whoever has a daughter and does not humiliate her, and does not favour his sons over her, Allah will admit him to Paradise.” (Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith No. 5146)

Kindness is a virtue that both men and women should practice, but it is especially important when it comes to daughters. In poorer communities, daughters may sometimes be seen as a burden, and their guardians may neglect their responsibilities towards them. In wealthier communities, people often focus on their own desires and may give daughters too much freedom, which can lead to poor decisions at a young age.

In all these situations, daughters are a delicate responsibility entrusted to their guardians. Fulfilling this duty is a fundamental teaching of Islam. Without carrying out this responsibility, no one can be excused before Allah.
