31. A Dignified Nation
The Quran declares:
“Mankind! We have created you from a male and female, and made you into peoples and tribes, so that you might come to know each other. The noblest of you in God’s sight is the one who fears God most. God is all knowing and all-aware.” (49:13)
Among men and women, there are many differences—of colour, race, language, and geography. Some are fair, others dark; some belong to one lineage, others to another; some come from one land, others from a different region. However, the Quran clearly states that these differences exist only for identification, not for discrimination.
Most social problems arise when people begin to treat these distinctions as grounds for superiority or inferiority. Such a mindset gives rise to division, prejudice, and arrogance—forces that have caused countless conflicts throughout human history.
In reality, all human beings share the same origin; they are all descendants of one father and one mother. The only valid basis for distinction is moral and spiritual—who among them truly fears God and who does not.
Even this is known only to God Himself. No human being has the right to judge others or claim moral superiority over them.
