TRULY ALIVE OR SPIRITUALLY DEAD

There are two ways a car can move. One is when a driver is at the wheel. The other is when the engine is started and the car is left to run on the road by itself. On the surface, both cars seem to be moving. But in reality, there is a big difference. A car with a driver reaches its destination, while a driverless car only runs for a while before it crashes and comes to an end.

When a sensible driver controls a car, he watches the road as he drives. He moves forward or stops as needed. Sometimes he goes ahead, other times he reverses. Sometimes he drives straight, other times he turns left or right. This is the kind of car that successfully reaches its destination.

By contrast, a car running without a driver keeps going blindly in one direction. It has no sense or awareness. It neither stops nor turns back. It never changes direction, nor does it slow down. It just rushes forward without control. The only end for such a car is to run a short distance and then crash, destroying itself.

This example illustrates the difference between a living person and a dead one. A living person is conscious and wise; a dead person lacks awareness and understanding. A living person knows when to speak and when to remain silent, when to move forward and when to pause, when to advance and when to retreat, when to hasten and when to slow down. Such a person ultimately achieves success.

In contrast, a dead person lacks such discernment. He does not know how to stop after speaking or pause after acting. He insists only on having his own way and refuses to accept any opposing view. Such a person is spiritually dead. In God’s world, his only fate is to become a symbol of destruction and loss.
