EASE IN DIFFICULTY
In a traditional sugarcane press, when cane is put in, there is little pressure and it passes only once between the rollers. As a result, about 25 percent of the juice remains inside. In an electric crusher, the pressure is greater and the cane passes through twice, but still about 15 percent of the juice is left behind. In large mills, the pressure is much higher and the cane passes through four times. This way, almost all the juice is extracted.
This example shows the importance of “pressure.” God has placed countless possibilities in the things He created. But hidden potential only comes out when pressure is applied. The greater the pressure, the more potential is revealed.
The same is true for human beings. Every person is born with immense potential. Each one is like a treasure chest of possibilities. In ordinary circumstances, these remain hidden. They appear only when a person is put under pressure—when he goes through a process that squeezes his personality. In history, those who achieved great progress were the ones who faced pressure in their environment. They were the ones who discovered the creative secret of “Verily, with hardship comes ease.” They entered life’s field with the determination to grow the crop of ease on the land of hardship.
To the one who sees with a human eye, hardship appears as hardship; to the one who sees with a divine eye, it appears as the beginning of ease.
