PURPOSEFULNESS
In Delhi, there was a young Muslim man who grew up in poverty. He never had the chance for formal education, but he was strong and capable. As he got older, he felt there was no respectable work open to him. Eventually, he drifted into a life of thuggery. Fighting, quarrels, and looting became his trade, and people began to call him a gangster.
A few years later, someone was moved to help him and lent him some money to start a shop. Once he began working there and saw a profit, he discovered purpose, so all his attention shifted to his business. He left his gangster life behind and became fully absorbed in running his shop.
A similar pattern can be observed among today’s Muslims. They have lost their sense of purpose and, in the modern world, have become a directionless community. As a result, negativity has taken hold. They have turned into a people of complaints and protests, quick to react over minor issues. Every gathering becomes a forum for grievances, and every public assembly turns into a protest.
The only solution is to re-establish Muslims as a purpose-driven community. And that purpose can only be one: conveying the message of faith to others. If Muslims adopt this mission, their weaknesses will fade on their own.
They will discover a higher and constructive purpose in life. Their sense of aimlessness will naturally turn into a sense of direction. Over time, they will develop strength of character together with patience and tolerance. Instead of harbouring hatred toward others, they will learn to love them. In the end, they will attain a vision that perceives light even in darkness and reveals the secret of gain within loss.
Purpose is the foundation of all reform. An aimless mind becomes a breeding ground for evil. Give a person a true purpose, and everything else in their life will begin to fall into place.
