What is Your Role in Receiving Guidance?

A preacher conveys the truth. But the role of the preacher is only 50%. Your God-given human nature has the capacity to distinguish between right and wrong. If a person doesn't utilize this nature, he has closed his door. If a person comes to you and you have closed your door, what will happen? You will not be able to meet him. God has given understanding to human nature. وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا (2:31)

The Quran says that guidance comes from God: إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ (28:56) The Prophet is being told: You cannot guide whoever you please: it is God who guides whom He will. You don't have the power to guide any person. Guidance comes from God. Many people ask about this verse. They say guidance is a matter of compulsion. What can we do? Today I understood the meaning of this verse. The task of the preacher is 50% and the rest 50% is the task of the addressee.

This is a 50-50 issue. It is the nature of the addressee that matters.

The truth that a preacher tells you is already interwoven in you. When the preacher tells you the truth, you have to leave open the door to your nature. When the preacher's words meet the voice of your nature, you will be able to understand the truth already interwoven in you. Otherwise, the truth will remain alien to you. The preacher's call will remain strange and alien for you. If you don't open the window to your nature, what does it mean?إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ You cannot guide whoever you please: it is God who guides whom He will. Here, God means God-given nature. When your divine nature supports you, you will understand the truth and adopt it.
