If you have love for your family in your heart but don’t love others, then this is not Islam. If you have love for Muslims in your heart, but don’t have love for others, then this is not Islam. This will be regarded as having bias for family and community. Every person has love for his family. Every person has love for his community. If Muslims have such love, then it has no value. If you respect Muslims, but don’t respect human beings, then this is not Islam. This is ignorance. Islam is to love all human beings and respect all human beings.
The Prophet explained to a person what Islam is. He gave him the gist of Islamic teaching. The person had asked how he would attain Paradise: What is that which would take me to Paradise? The Prophet replied: تَقْوَى اللَّهِ، وَحُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 9696) The two-point formula for entering Paradise is: fear of God and good behaviour with people. You should live in this world in such a way that you have fear of God. If I misbehave with a person in this world, I will be repaid by God in the Hereafter. I will be punished. I cannot misbehave with any person. This feeling will make a person fearful. When there is fear, a person will be cautious. Islam also teaches that we have to love all human beings.
