The Criterion for Salvation

Humans have been created in a world where there is distraction everywhere. Wealth is a distraction. Children are distractions. Fame and stage are distractions. In everything of the world there is distraction. The real test of a human being is that he shouldn’t get distracted. He should make God his supreme concern until he dies. It doesn’t matter how much information you have or how much knowledge you possess. The criterion is decided by God. The criterion is to make God your everything. You should seek God. You should acknowledge God. You should have fear of God. You should love God. This is the true criterion. A person has completed his faith if he loves for the sake of God, has aversion for the sake of God, gives for the sake of God and does not give for the sake of God. (Sunan Abu Dawud 4681) This is the criterion of perfection of faith.

This is not a matter of limited knowledge. Salvation is not dependent on whether your knowledge is less or more. All scholars believe that real importance is of sincerity. In Islam, salvation is for those who are truly sincere in God's eyes. Sincerity means to make God your sole concern. An American writer did research on Islam. He wrote in a book that the greatest concern of Islam is Allah. I believe he was very right. Having less or more knowledge, being able to do more or less of deeds, being a speaker or not, being a writer on not are aspects which don’t matter here.

The question is whether or not you made God your sole concern.
