The Quran says that Satan deceives a person through beautification. Satan beautifies evil. In the final days, Dajjal will arise. (Sahih al-Bukhari 3609) Dajjal means the Great Deceiver. This is an indication of an age when rationalized evil will spread. It would be an ideologically-rationalized evil or ideologically justified evil. This will be the deception. In the present age, this is already happening. We are in an age of rationalized evil. People consider themselves completely free. And Muslims claim that they are doing violence for a holy purpose. They say it would lead them to Paradise. There is an ideology behind this violence, which is that it is Muslims' duty to establish God's rule in this world. We are doing God's work. If we lay down our lives for it, we would get Paradise. All this is false ideology. We need to counter this false ideology, otherwise violence will not come to an end. An American professor came to meet me. He was doing research on terrorism.  I said to him that the method used by Americans will not put an end to violence. You think it is a matter of bomb vs. bomb, or gun vs. gun, you need to respond to a terrorist's guns by using even more powerful guns. This will crush them all.

This is a mistake. It is not a matter of gun vs. gun. It is rather a matter of gun vs. ideology. Had it been a matter of gun vs. gun, your more powerful gun would have wiped them out. But it is really a matter of gun vs. ideology. You should have a counter-ideology. I had long back written in The Times of India that America would not be able to crush terrorism. I had said this even before America attacked Iraq. Today you know that 5 trillion dollars have been spent on the war, but nothing could be achieved. Militancy and violence are still prevalent. The terrorists have a false conviction that they are on the right path and that they are working for God's cause, God has given them the goal to establish His rule on earth. They are living in this conviction. They believe if they are killed by bombs, they will get Paradise. Then how can you crush them? In this world, it is only our team which understands this matter and is working to address it. All others, including the government, superpowers and big organizations, don’t quite understand the real issue. They are failing in their efforts but still fail to reassess the matter. They don’t review the cause of their failure.
