Seeing a patient, you remember that you are being put to the test in this world. After the test is over, you will go to the Hereafter. You will either get punishment or reward. A person remembers all this when he sees a patient. This is the meaning of being in the garden of Paradise and to walk there.
Iyadat means to visit the sick. The Prophet said: عَائِدُ الْمَرِيضِ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ "One who visits the sick is in the gardens of Paradise." (Sahih Muslim 2568)" One who goes to visit the sick has gone to a person who is ill and in difficulty.
If a person goes to see a patient, he sees someone in difficulty and suffering. Then why did the Prophet say that one who goes to visit the sick is in the garden of Paradise? This is because a believer remembers God and the Hereafter in every scene and experience. You go to visit the sick. Looking at him, you remember the Hereafter. The difficulty on the Day of Judgment will be far more grave. You also remember that your health in the Hereafter will be far better than your health today. You remember the comforts and the difficulties of the Hereafter. When you think about these matters, you walk in the gardens of Paradise: you remember the Hereafter. Seeing a patient, you remember that you are being put to the test in this world. After the test is over, you will go to the Hereafter. You will either get punishment or reward. A person remembers all this when he sees a patient. This is the meaning of being in the garden of Paradise and to walk there.
