Idealism and Practical Wisdom

When God created Adam, He settled him in Paradise. God told Adam: Live as you want in Paradise, but don’t approach the Forbidden Tree. Adam was forbidden from going to this tree and from eating its fruit. Practical wisdom demanded that Adam and Eve should have stayed away from the Forbidden Tree. The rest of Paradise was enough for them. But they didn’t do so. They tried to eat the fruit of the Forbidden Tree. This deprived them of Paradise. This example can be seen in the whole of human history. There are very few people who understand the importance of practical wisdom and follow it.

When God created Adam, He settled him in Paradise. God told Adam: Live as you want in Paradise, but don’t approach the Forbidden Tree. Adam was forbidden from going to this tree and from eating its fruit. He was given this instruction in Paradise. But Adam and Eve ate the fruit of that tree. (7.19-22) They went near the Forbidden Tree and ate its fruit.

What happened? They were deprived of Paradise. They were removed from Paradise and sent on planet earth. We must reflect on this incident. There is idealism on one side and practical wisdom on the other. Idealism is to think: When Paradise is open for me, why should the Forbidden Tree be out of my reach? Why restrictions? There should be no restrictions. This is idealism. The whole of Paradise should be open to me without any restrictions. This was idealism. Practical wisdom was: We are two persons and the whole of Paradise is open for us. If we don’t get a certain tree, it doesn’t matter. This creates a lot of difference.

Consider a palace with 100 rooms and it is given to a person. But one room of the palace is locked. The entire palace belongs to the person, but he tries to force himself in the locked room. He should use the remaining palace, but his mind wants the ideal.
