Yaqub was one of the prophets of God. He is named Jacob in the Bible. He had a son named Yusuf. Jacob had several other sons, who according to the famous story had cast Yusuf into a well. Jacob's sons later told their father that a wolf had devoured Joseph. On hearing this Jacob exclaimed: إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ (12.86) My son has gone missing. I have no clue if he is alive or dead. Did the wolf really devour him? What happened? Joseph was Jacob's most beloved son. When Joseph went missing, Jacob exclaimed: إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ (12.86) I only complain of my anguish and my sorrow to God. This is the way of the believer.

If you lose anything, if you experience any kind of loss, if someone harms you in any way, you should be able to say that I leave this matter to God. You shouldn’t try to deal with it on your own, start fighting on your own, begin protesting, organizing processions and creating a furore over it. This is not the way of the believer. You should be able to say: إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ (I leave this matter to God alone) By doing this, you save your time, the little time that you have before death. إِنَّمَا أَشْكُو بَثِّي وَحُزْنِي إِلَى اللَّهِ is a verse from Surah Yusuf of the Quran.  When Prophet Jacob lost his son, he said, God, I direct my sorrow toward You. This is the formula for crisis management. You should be able to utter this formula. When he faced a crisis, he was able to say, God, I leave this matter to You. In this way, he was able to lighten his burden.
