Good Grades Don’t Guarantee Success

I advise all youngsters to read the biographies of people who have been successful in life. You should know what made these people successful. Read to draw lessons. This attitude holds the greatest importance. But these days people read novels, which don’t provide any life lessons. Novels have fictional characters, not real characters. Novels don't even discuss human history. When something is non-existent, it cannot give you any lessons.

I don't say that students shouldn’t work hard. They must work very hard and get excellent grades. This is necessary. But it is wrong to believe that good grades guarantee success. This way of thinking is wrong. When you enter practical life, you face people. When you do business, you have to face customers. If you work at a company, you have colleagues and bosses. This happens everywhere.  You have to satisfy others. The grades you got stay on a piece of paper and are part of your memory. The people you meet in life will not merely ask you about the grades you got in school. They will see your behaviour and how you deal with them. Then they will form an opinion of you.

This is why, I advise all youngsters to read the biographies of people who have been successful in life. You should know what made these people successful. Read to draw lessons. This attitude holds the greatest importance. But these days people read novels, which don’t provide any life lessons. Novels have fictional characters, not real characters. Novels don't even discuss human history. When something is non-existent, it cannot give you any lessons.
