The Quran says: إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ  (8:2) “True believers are those whose hearts tremble with awe at the mention of God.” Your hearts will have awe at the mention of God if you have discovered God as the greatest. If you don’t have a great discovery of God, how will your heart be in awe? If 10-20 people are sitting somewhere and you tell them that an ant is roaming around, they will not be afraid. But if you tell them, that a tiger has come, they will all become fearful. Those who have discovered God as the greatest will be fearful of Him. Your heart does not tremble at anything simple. You know that an ant is tiny and won't do anything. You have this picture of an ant. This is why, you don't feel afraid when you hear about an ant. You know that a tiger is very powerful. It has powerful claws. It can even devour a human being.

This is the picture of a tiger in your mind. This is why, when someone tells you that a tiger is near, you become fearful. It is not only the mention of something that makes you tremble, but it's your discovery of the tiger as powerful that makes you tremble. Similarly, it is not the word 'God' that makes you fearful. You should have a great discovery of God: God is the One who has created the entire universe, God is the one who controls this vast universe, God is the one who has created the earth and its life-support system.

When you discover God in all His greatness, you will be in awe at the mention of God. Your heart will tremble. A storm will well up in your personality. This is the secret. What do we understand?Faith is a discovery. Faith is not merely the repetition of certain words. Merely the utterance of kalimah will not make you tremble. Kalimah of Islam is a discovery. Kalimah is not merely repetition of words. This is what we understand.
