The right formula is to become an idealist oneself but the moment you enter society, adopt practical wisdom. What is practical wisdom? It is to be content over what is practically possible. The hadith says: قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ، وَرُزِقَ كَفَافًا، وَقَنَّعَهُ اللهُ بِمَا آتَاهُ (Sahih Muslim 1054) He is successful who accepts Islam. What does it mean to accept Islam? It is to accept the reality and acknowledge the reality. Islam is acceptance of reality. When it comes to the ultimate truth, one has to be an idealist. There is no need to compromise here. At the level of your mind, you have to follow one ideology, or one truth. You don’t need to compromise with anyone there. You are all by yourself in this matter. You are by yourself, at the level of your mind. You can adopt an uncompromising attitude at that level. But when you enter society, that is not possible. The above hadith continues: He will get sufficient provision, according to his need.  You are not the only one who seeks provision in this world. There are 7 billion people, then how can you have everything? You can't have everything. There is only one possible solution for you: be content with satisfying your needs and not be greedy. What does it mean to want everything? When you run after fulfilling your greed, you won't get anything. You will remain stressed your entire life. If you seek the fulfilment of your needs, you will be able to achieve that. وقنعه الله بما آتاه : And he is content with what God has given him. What does 'what God has given him' mean? This means he got according to God's law of nature and creation plan. He didn’t get anything more than that. And he is content with what he got according to God's law of nature.
