People's mind is rational, logical and scientific, while we are speaking in traditional terms. This is an intellectual gap. We have to bring an end to this intellectual gap. Instead of this, ulama issued fatwa stating the youth have become apostates. It's easy to issue fatwas. If you take the responsibility on yourself, what will you have to do? First, you will have to study English books. All ulama should have said: Let's study English language and thought. Without studying English, we cannot address their minds.
Our new generations educated at the university or who have gone to Europe and America, who have read modern literature and modern thinkers, have developed doubts in their mind regarding Islam. They questioned the ulama, but the ulama could not satisfy them. When the ulama saw that the youth were dissatisfied with their answers, they concluded that the youth had become apostates. The youth were dissatisfied with the ulama's answers, which made them believe the youth have become apostates. The ulama should have reflected on this verse of the Quran: وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ. (14:4)
Another verse says: وَقُلْ لَهُمْ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ قَوْلًا بَلِيغًا. (4:63) If we reflect on these verses we will realize that our preaching should convince the mind of the addressee. We have to speak in the language of the addressee and according to his rational standard. We have to understand the logic of addressee's mind and speak to him by analyzing it. This was the task of the prophets. The Quran says: وَقُلْ لَهُمْ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ قَوْلًا بَلِيغًا. “Speak to them in a way that addresses their mind.”
Dawah should be conveyed in a way that addresses people's mind. Baleegh means something that deeply affects the soul. In today's idiom we can say dawah should be conveyed in a way that addresses people's mind. Dawah should be conveyed in a way that addresses people's mind. The ulama didn't think about this. They should have realized that the youth had doubts about the answers we gave them. The youth didn’t understand what we tried to explain to them. This is our shortcoming and has nothing to do with their relation to Islam. We are unable to address their minds in a rational way. The youth's mind is rational, while we are speaking in a traditional way.
