The traditional presentation of Islam in classical books didn’t address the minds. When people read my books, their minds got addressed. In these books, I present Islam in a way that makes it compatible with human nature. Islam is a religion of nature. But due to human interpretations, veils were cast over it. When these veils are removed, it becomes clear that Islam is exactly what human nature seeks. This is the gist of my life.
I received education at the madrasa. At the madrasa my Islamic learning included study of Arabic language, Quran, Hadith and other Islamic books. After this study, when I returned to Muslim society I conversed with people, especially with those who had an English education. I realized that my madrasa learning wasn’t enough to answer the questions of these people. I needed to study more. They used to ask me new questions which I had not studied at the madrasa.
They wanted to understand matters from various different angles which we weren’t taught at the madrasa. I then decided to study English. I studied the English language privately. I had studied Islam formally at the madrasa. But I had to understand modern thought to understand the relevance of Islam in the modern age. I spent about twenty years in this study. I learnt English and read books on modern thought. This was a dual kind of study. I took me a lot of time to gain both kinds of knowledge.
My entire life was spent in study. How was this possible? This is not possible for people in general. A common man works to earn a living. But I had family support since my childhood days. Even today I have family support. I began this work with the support of my family. I am still continuing it with my family's help. This was God's special grace upon me. I received family support throughout my life.
This helped me in my study. I gained both kinds of knowledge. I studied Islam again after my madrasa years. I also studied modern knowledge. After my study, I wrote a book Islam Rediscovered. In this I have explained that Islam hasn’t lost its relevance. The additions made to original Islam have indeed lost their relevance. When I made this discovery, I began to write about it. I wrote about 200 books. I wrote a commentary on the Quran, books on life and sayings of the Prophet, Islamic history and almost every aspect of Islam. With God's grace, this literature is now available in Urdu, Arabic, English and other languages. Many people have received answers to their questions in these books.
