I am a human, it is obvious that I would know myself. What is unknown is not the human, rather it is the goal that is unknown. The problem facing us in this world is that our goal is unknown. We don’t know our goal. Humans exist, but we don’t know the goal. I am reminded of lines from a poem: Having invited me here, someone hid himself from me. I am a guest for whom there is no host. In other words we can call this phenomenon a 'crisis of identity'.
A book, published in 1930, was called Man the Unknown. The author was French, Dr. Alexis Carrel. The name of the book was Man the Unknown. A more appropriate title for the book would be Goal the Unknown. We are aware of humans. Since I am a human, it is obvious that I would know myself.
