A verse in the Quran says about this world: أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ اللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُ أَسْلَمَ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَكَرْهًا (3:83) The entire universe, except humans, has submitted. Islam means surrender. The religion of the entire universe is surrender. It is the religion of submission. It would be correct to say that this is required of humans too. This is surrender or submission. Humans and the rest of the universe have to live in surrender. It would be right to say that submission is the only religion for both man and the universe. But there is a difference. The universe or the material world follows the submission culture compulsively. Stars are countless in number. We cannot exactly count the number of stars to this day. There is no such powerful telescope that may tell us about the number of stars in space. We know that all stars are revolving in their orbits. All natural objects follow eternal laws of nature. The mountains, oceans, trees, animals and stars —everything from a particle to heavenly bodies compulsively follow divine laws. Humans have to adopt this universal culture by choice. This is the difference. Humans are the only creatures who possess freedom or choice. For the rest of the universe, there is no choice or freedom. The submission culture which the universe has adopted compulsively has to be adopted by humans by choice. This is the basic concept.
