The explosion of opportunities in this world gives you an opportunity to attain a higher blessing. To build a house, buy a shop or have bank balance is not just an opportunity, rather it gives you a greater opportunity to thank God in this world and have greater reward in the Hereafter.
The Quran says in Surah Ibrahim: لَئِنْ شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ. If you are grateful, I will surely bestow more favours on you. (14.7) This doesn’t mean that if you have two homes, you will have four soon. If you have two cars, you will have four soon. If you have money in one bank, you will soon have money in 10 banks. This isn't the meaning. It means that if you are thankful in this world, in the Hereafter you get great reward. Your reward will be more than twice over. If you are grateful for the blessings of this world, you are promised Paradise in the Hereafter. There are many blessings of this world, for example, employment opportunities. If you are grateful, you will have great reward in the Hereafter. The great deprivation for a person who is thankless is not only that he doesn’t recognize blessings. If he isn't thankful for the blessings, then he isn't just someone who doesn’t recognize blessings. Rather, he deprives himself of a greater blessing. Even if the blessings in this world are numerous, they are limited and will last for a limited period. They are not even perfect or ideal. But the consequences of being thankless in this world is to be deprived of blessings in the Hereafter. The blessings of the Hereafter are perfect, ideal, eternal and complete. The explosion of opportunities in this world gives you an opportunity to attain a higher blessing. To build a house, buy a shop or have bank balance is not just an opportunity, rather it gives you a greater opportunity to thank God in this world and have greater reward in the Hereafter.
