When I have discovered the truth, I need to spend my days and nights in spreading this truth. I had no guidance, and God gave me guidance. The Quran says: وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَى (93:7) The Prophet said to Khadija: There is no rest now! Now I have to spend day and night in the effort to convey the truth. This is the mark of a true seeker.
It is necessary to decondition oneself to reach the truth. The sign of having found the truth is that you should convey this truth to people. You should become a messenger, an ambassador. Your supreme concern should be to tell the whole world what you have found. A king once told a philosopher to find a law related to water. The philosopher thought for many years. Once he was taking a bath in the tub and discovered the law. Without wearing clothes, he ran saying: Eureka, eureka! I have found it, I have found it!
A true seeker is one who should be ready every moment to accept the truth. He doesn’t think if it is in his favour or goes against him. He is ready to say, I was wrong. He will jump to receive the truth without much thought to anything. He will become a true messenger. When the Prophet was given prophethood in the cave of Hira, he went to his wife Khadija. When he returned, his wife laid down his bed for rest. The Prophet said to her: مضى عهد النوم يا خديجة (Fi Zilalil Quran, v. 1, p. 76)
