The Life Hereafter is As True As Your Ability to Speak

You can see yourself being repeated in the partial sense in this world.  Our speech is a part of our personality or being. We see, hear, think and walk. All this is part of our being. One aspect of our being is speech. It is a scientific argument that if something can be repeated partially, it can also be repeated in totality. If anything is repeatable in the partial sense, it is also repeatable in the total sense. If something can be partially repeated, it can also be wholly repeated. This was a unique argument put forward by the Quran in the seventh century.

I am reminded of a verse from the Quran: فَوَرَبِّ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِنَّهُ لَحَقٌّ مِثْلَ مَا أَنَّكُمْ تَنْطِقُونَ (51:23) According to the Quran, our life is divided into two periods: pre-death period and post-death period. This verse tells that the next life is as true as your ability to speak. While speaking of next life, the Quran gives reference only to speech. It did not speak about the hands, legs or the mind. The Quran has about 6500 verses. There is only one verse that refers to speech. Earlier people couldn’t understand this.

Earlier people thought that just as you speak easily, God will also bring about the Day of Judgement easily. In the commentaries on the Quran, you won't find a logical or rational interpretation of this verse. It is an entirely new phenomenon: a person's speech can be repeated. It was not known earlier that human speech is repeatable. People thought when a person is alive, he can speak. But once he dies, his speech is gone. The belief about the post-death period is that a human being will come alive again. What is the Hereafter? It is that human life or human personality is repeatable. A person will be alive again after death. Life is a repeatable phenomenon, or something that can come into existence again. 1400 years ago, in the seventh century, the Quran contained a verse which people didn’t understand.

The hadith says: وَلَا تَنْقَضِي عَجَائِبُهُ (Sunan al-Darimi 3358) The miracles of the Quran will never come to an end. The Quran said the life Hereafter is certainly the truth, as true as your ability to speak. But people didn't understand this. Just as speech is repeatable, life is also repeatable.

What does this mean? You can see yourself being repeated in the partial sense in this world.  Our speech is a part of our personality or being. We see, hear, think and walk. All this is part of our being. One aspect of our being is speech. It is a scientific argument that if something can be repeated partially, it can also be repeated in totality. If anything is repeatable in the partial sense, it is also repeatable in the total sense. If something can be partially repeated, it can also be wholly repeated. This was a unique argument put forward by the Quran in the seventh century. There are two points to be noted. First, life after death is a scientific concept. Second, the Quran is a word of God. In the seventh century, no human being knew that human speech is repeatable in this very world. When I heard the interview of Raghubir Sahaya, I felt as if earlier he used to speak in this world, but now he had gone to the other world and was speaking from there. His voice was being repeated in this world. It was being broadcast. It was telling us: there is another world from where I am speaking. This is a realization I had while listening to the radio. This is a lesson, an argument and an eye-opening fact.
