In this world, for one reason or the other, peace remains elusive. Differences, may they be political or apolitical, keep on arising between individuals and groups due to which peace can never prevail. In the book entitled Islam and Peace, the author Maulana Wahiduddin Khan highlights the role that Islam can play in maintaining peace. The author explains that on seeing the actions of Muslims, people today find it hard to believe that Islam may be a religion of peace. But if Muslims stop engaging in violent activities and give people the opportunity to appreciate Islam in its original form, then certainly a great number of people will realize, as they never had before, that Islam was a religion of peace and spirituality.
The book further explains that whenever individuals, groups or communities are faced with a problem, one way to solve it is by resorting to violence. The better way is to attempt to solve the problem by peaceful means, avoiding violence and confrontation. Explaining that peaceful means may take various forms, the book elucidates the peaceful methods that are applicable to given situations.
