  Booklet: The Reality of Life
Man is born with unlimited potential, yet in the present world he finds only a very limited use for it. According to his nature, man wants to live eternally, but very soon, without his leave, death arrives and puts an end to his life. He harbours an ocean of desires in his heart, but these desires are never fulfilled. He hoses a life of dreams in his mind, but these dreams are never realized. In this case, there is no difference between a poor man and a rich man. Why are man and the present world so mismatched.
This booklet is available in both Japanese and English.

Article: When You Make a Mistake by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan
The Sunday Guardian, March 20, 2011
One of the Quranic teachings is tauba, which means repentance. When you make a mistake and do tauba, the blessing of God will return to you. In the chapter entitled Al-Tahrim (Prohibition), the Quran says: "O believers turn to God in sincere repentance, in the hope that your Lord will forgive you your bad deeds and admit you into gardens watered by running streams." (66:8)

Article: Open Heart, Open Mind by Stuti Malhotra, Member CPS International
The Speaking Tree, February 6, 2011
You will agree that life dishes out different kinds of challenges to different people. Everyone has to face difficulties, problems, setbacks at some point or the other. My life appeared to be one long-drawn out struggle. Like most people, every time I faced yet another problem that sapped my patience and forbearance, I asked myself in despair: Why me? Why can't life ever be smooth and hassle-free? These questions seemed to have no answers.

  Video: Islam and Democracy
In his talk, the Maulana deals with the recent political developments in Middle East countries that have raised a question on whether Islam inhibits the growth of democracy. It is widely believed that democracy started in France but in reality the French Revolution was a culmination of events that took place after the Islamic revolution. He further clarifies that Islam clearly differentiates between personal conduct and social system. That is, personal character of an individual lies in his own hands and can be changed by him. Social system however is subservient to the society. Unless the Muslims understand this differentiation, they will not get the correct line of action.

  Audio: Accepting the Second Best
In his talk, the Maulana explains that the Principle of Accepting the Second Best is in tandem with the law of nature, which governs the working of the universe. Man must accept the second best option because the first best does not exist in this world. Unfortunately, throughout history man has remained plagued with the obsession of achieving the imaginary first best. The Maulana further illustrates, with several examples, the old adage that explains how men rush after the whole measure, ignoring that which they could instead avail and in their vain struggle, end up losing both.

Developing One's Personality: In developing one's personality, the most important thing is for man to broaden his mind by awakening his consciousness. To awaken one's consciousness, three things are required - study, observation and intellectual exchange with other people.

  FAQs
Q. How can one find peace of mind?
A. People generally confuse individual peace and social peace. Social peace is an ideal that is difficult to achieve, but individual peace is completely achievable. You cannot control society, but your mind can be completely under your control. Develop the quality of tolerance and you will be able to live in peace, even when there is no peace in the outside world. Peace of mind basically depends on one's thinking, and not on the state of affairs.
